Canada Study Permit

Indian students can apply for a study permit under the Student Direct Stream (SDS). To qualify under SDS, the student should hold an unconditional offer from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). The study permit application must be made at least 2 months before your course start date.

    A Full-time students pursuing an academic or professional program at a designated learning institute are allowed to work off/on campus for up to 20 hours per week during a regular academic session and full time during regularly scheduled breaks.

    The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable Canadian work experience. A work permit under this Program may be issued for the length of the study program, up to a maximum of three years. For example, if you graduate from a 2 or 3 years diploma or a 3/4 year Bachelors degree program, you could be eligible for up to three-years work permit if you meet the criteria. If you graduate from an 8-month certificate program, you would be eligible for a work permit that is valid for no more than eight months.

    • A copy of a valid Letter of Acceptance from the Admissions/Registrar's Office of one of the Designated Learning Institutions in Canada.
    • If you are intending to study in Québec: Evidence of a valid Certificatd'acceptation du Québec (CAQ)
    • Use of a Representative form (IMM 5476) (if necessary)
    • A valid IELTS test result (issued within the last two years) showing an overall band of 6.0 with no individual band lower than 6.0
    • Photocopy of the most recent diploma/leaving certificate, and most recent mark sheets (including failure mark sheets for entire program; consolidated mark sheets are NOT acceptable)
    • Copy of payment receipt provided Canadian institution (pre-payment of entire 1st year is compulsory)
    • GIC Certification from Scotia Bank / ICICI Bank, Canada / CIBC
